New York Fashion Week: Lela Rose

September 15, 2011

Lela Rose was exciting because I could see myself in quite a few pieces. The problem was I didn’t really watch the runway as it’s difficult from behind the lens. When a friend asked me to describe the vibe or tell her about this year’s designs, my reply was, “it was all a blur”.  I guess either your a photographer snapping every shot or your a guest totally viewing the designs, models and atmosphere while taking mental notes of the texture and fabric. I personally have to go to the press sheet to have dialogue of the details that these wonderful designers put every effort into creating.

One moment of the show that I do remember; it was the morning of 9-11 and like my 3rd show. Lindsay Lohan walked in and there was all the hub-bub of whether she looked ratty or not,  One photographer said, “yup she does look ratty” and started his tweet asking me if  he spelled Lohan right.  Personally, I didn’t think she looked ratty, but she could have used a little more volume in her hair. Nothing a little Big and Sexy mouse won’t fix.  Anyway, then the lights dimmed, the room silenced and Imagine by John Lennon started to play. It was a beautiful version of a moment of silence. People had there arms raised and cell phones lit all around the room.  The entire song played before the lights came on.
